The strategist behind Hidden Lever

Meet Phil Carpenter

Phil is a Northeast Ohio marketing strategist and hands-on leader who helps growing businesses see the whole problem, find the highest-value next move, and build the systems and team alignment needed to carry it forward.

Marketing leadership grounded in how businesses actually run

Phil has spent his career inside the work: serving in senior marketing leadership, growing experience-based and multi-location businesses, advising owners, building digital systems, coordinating specialists, and translating ambitious ideas into plans people can execute.

That range shaped the central idea behind Hidden Lever: marketing problems rarely stay inside marketing. The visible issue might be advertising, traffic, or content. The underlying constraint may be the offer, positioning, customer journey, sales handoff, booking process, team structure, measurement, or an operational reality nobody has connected to the plan.

Phil’s role is to bring those pieces into one view, make the tradeoffs clear, and help the business move from scattered activity to useful action. Based in Lorain County, he works with businesses across Greater Cleveland, Northeast Ohio, and nationwide.

A strategist who understands both the meeting and the handoff

Hidden Lever’s value comes from connecting leadership decisions to the people, systems, customer moments, and operational details that make the plan real.

01

Senior marketing leadership

Setting strategy, translating business goals into priorities, building plans, and helping leadership teams make better decisions about where to focus.

02

Multi-location marketing

Connecting brand-wide strategy to local search, promotions, teams, systems, customer journeys, and the market realities that determine execution.

03

Customer acquisition

Looking across awareness, local and organic search, paid advertising, offers, conversion, follow-up, and retention to find where growth is constrained.

04

Websites and analytics

Improving websites, conversion paths, analytics, CRM, automation, and reporting so customer behavior becomes easier to understand and act on.

05

Marketing operations

Building planning rhythms, processes, budgets, measurement, and accountability that help marketing move from activity to reliable execution.

06

Teams and vendor management

Leading employees, agencies, freelancers, and technology partners while keeping strategic planning connected to the work customers actually experience.

Business problem before marketing channel

The work should make the path clearer—not make marketing feel more complicated.

Start with the truth

Understand what the business, customer, team, and available evidence actually say before recommending a solution.

Make the decision visible

A useful strategy identifies the tradeoff, priority, owner, and next action. It does not hide behind impressive language.

Respect capacity

The plan has to fit the people, budget, tools, time, and operational reality available to carry it forward.

Stay close to execution

Senior thinking improves when it can see where the work breaks, what the team needs, and what customers experience.

Why founder-led matters

Hidden Lever is deliberately personal.

You work directly with Phil. There is no sales-to-account-team handoff and no pressure to fit the business into a standard package. The recommendation can be strategy, leadership, execution, a better use of the team you already have—or the honest conclusion that a particular idea should wait.

The aim is not to sell the most marketing. It is to help the business see more clearly and use its resources well.

Start with the real business problem

Tell Phil where the business feels stuck.

You do not need a finished brief or a diagnosis. A clear description of the situation is enough to begin.
